Astro Weather September 13th-20th 2023

Wed 13th Sept 2023

Today is the first day of the 3rd Decan of Virgo ♍️. Each sign in Western Astrology takes up 30 degrees of a 360 degree circle.  And each of the 12 signs of the zodiac are divided into 3 Decans of 10 degrees each.

13th September through to 22nd September is the third Decan of Virgo ♍️, which is the Taurus ♉️ Decan, (or Venus Decan). This is the Decan that is a lover of luxury and loves having good times in life, but it is not materialistic, but like most Virgo traits it’s super practical.

Today and tomorrow the moon is in Leo ♌️. A Leo moon is known for requiring an extra dollop of attention and adoration from others.  So watch out for your lack of self confidence causing difficulties. Remember that we are all important and unique beings and maybe use this Leo moon to help someone else with their confidence instead of worrying about yours. A timid Lion is not a good look! (Think wizard of Oz).

On Friday 15th September early doors, the New Moon in Virgo is Trine to Uranus so there could be some progressive changes, especially to your routines and health practices.

This new moon is also conjunct the fixed star Denebola. This star can have a negative affect ,(since Roman times stars have been used to predict or understand daily life. The word disaster comes from the Latin word ‘dis astrum’ or ‘bad star’. ) But the positive nature of the New Moon reduces the negative impact of this fixed star, and in fact there is possible good fortune, wealth and career advancement linked to this new moon. And the influence of the New Moon lasts for 4 weeks until the eclipse on October 14th.

Mercury also goes direct on Friday 15th in the evening so this will bring an end to the 6 planet retrograde! Only 5 planets retrograde which may help our physical energy. I have personally found this 6 retrograde episode to be challenging when trying to accomplish any physical tasks. I have also spoken to lots of people suffering with exhaustion and irritability due to the stresses of the external world. The antidote has been to re- new, re- fresh, re- store, re-plenish, re-cover…… remember retrograde is linked to going over parts of your life that need a little attention. To do this in an introspective fashion is the ideal way to deal with retrograde periods, rather than to externalise and project or judge people outside of ourselves.

On Saturday September 16th the Sun is Trine Uranus. So from Wed until Sunday this will enhance your confidence to express your more quirky side. This is an excellent time to meet extraordinary people.

On Monday September 18th the moon enters Scorpio ♏️. Scorpio is known for never letting a grievance go. Use this time to practice realising that we all make mistakes sometimes! Maybe try and forgive misdemeanours (especially if you have been guilty of them yourself), even if you can’t forget!

From  Sunday  17th until 21st the Sun is opposite Neptune. This is a time for potential confusion, insecurity and discouragement. Remember if it sounds too good to be true it probably is!!!

From Mon September 18th until Friday 22nd September, Mars is quincunx to Jupiter. This represents lots of activity and energy, but difficulty controlling your emotions. Slow down! and try to avoid conflicts especially when doing things for the first time.

Astro Weather 30th August 2023

Astro weather Aug 30th-Sept 4th

Astrologers and films and Venus Retrograde

It has been reported that the Barbi film had an astrologer working behind the scenes, which would explain the film being released as Venus went retrograde. (The first Star Wars film also had an astrologer who elected the date to release the film for maximum ‘punch’. )

We are at the end of the 40 days and nights of Venus retrograde. It goes direct on Monday 4th September. There have been some public break ups, including Trudeau and Kevin Costner. Venus retrograde doesn’t create the problematic event but it can review certain areas of contention.

Mature, conscious and aware couples can reflect in a mature way. The brilliant David Whitehead, ( of cult of the medics), and Matt Presti had a great podcast with their wives Monica and Laurie which was inspirational and a reminder how Venus retrograde at its higher octave is to review our relationships in the most helpful way for all.

Six Retrograde Planets

More than four planets in retrograde motion make it more difficult for people to understand each other. It seems like more bad things are happening in the world: more violence, psychological abuse, accidents, suicides, and death. Understanding and compassion seem to be lacking. With the world slowing down, material events can act as blockages that allow you to develop internally and mature. This helps you find reassurance within yourself.

  • Five retrograde planets from August 23 to 28.
  • Six retrograde planets from August 28 to September 15.
  • Five retrograde planets from September 15 to October 10.

The world appears to slow down when five or more planets are retrograde simultaneously. You may attract energy at some invisible level, and it can feel like you are living in another dimension. It can feel like you’re from another planet or reality, so there is less inner certainty. You may experience feelings of isolation or of being different.

Blue Moon

It is a blue moon on Thursday 31st early hours because the full moon is in Pisces.

“a pisces moon is where we go to dream

where we close our eyes and softly slip

      into the other world

      submerging into our inner waters

      of receptivity and silent communication

The Blue Moon is conjunct Saturn, which adds seriousness to your emotions and can lead to distance in your intimate relationships. You may have to deal with some challenging situations and negative attitudes, which will feel worse than they are. Self-discipline and emotional maturity are called for this week.

Other aspects

Mars quincunx Saturn from Wednesday to Sunday can create an imbalance between your sense of responsibility and personal desires. This can lead to indecisiveness and make you feel stuck, irritable and resentful. Find the source of the problems and focus your energy.

Mercury retrograde trine Jupiter from Saturday to Wednesday brings optimism, generosity, good luck, and good news. Good instincts, future-oriented, and positive thinking make this an excellent time for socializing, researching, studying and making plans. Making friends comes easy, and mutually beneficial partnerships can prove profitable.

Sun semi sextile Venus from Saturday to Wednesday positively influences love and money. You can take the initiative in these areas and expect good reactions and support. Being proactive in relationships by simply giving love can heal any old wounds. Negotiations and business dealings should be amicable.

Astro Weather 23rd August 2023

Wed Aug 23rd 2023

Virgo season started today Wednesday 23rd August 2023. This is the last season of Summer for Western astrology. Western astrology follows the season, the equinoxes and the solstices.

Also today we entered Mercury retrograde, which we have at least 3 (sometimes 4) times a year. Retrograde indicates a slowing done, a revising, a reviewing , a revisiting of all thing Mercury: communication, travel, local neighbourhood, siblings, cousins, books. Often old friends or lovers make contact , or you feel inclined to get in touch with them.

Often astrologers cast a chart for the time Mercury goes retrograde, to give an idea wha to look out for in these 3 weeks of reflection and review.

Today the chart has some important points:

Because mercury is in Virgo, this would be a good time to do any cleaning out of your home, of your health, of your friendship circles. Virgo likes health and routine.

Virgo can be anxious time of the year, so magnesium or epsom salt baths are good for this, or eating more bananas!

There is a lack of Air in the chart for this day, so maybe there maybe less rationality and logic in the days ahead, beware not to get irritated with people if communication is disrupted, try and walk away and vent if you have to , then come back and try again to communicate what it is you want to say.

Neptune is opposite Mercury, oppositions can mean we don’t see something and with Neptune this may be linked to deception or viruses, or drugs, alcohol or something more spiritual and all encompassing.

Because Mars and Mercury and conjunct, Mars is also opposite Neptune. Neptune dissolves the pioneering energy of Mars. Mars in virgo can be critical and Neptune can be an agent go guilt. Beware of criticising others, and if you get criticised, try not to react. Neptune is good for visioning and aspirations. It would be wise to use this energy to allow yourself to know what you would really like. Why? Do you really want this? Really think what would be best for your ‘higher’ self. Remember when you do this it is about yourself and not trying to control others.

Venus retrograde in Leo is square to Jupiter in Taurus. This could look like an extravagant way to enjoy yourself. Taurus is stuff we like and Jupiter expands this, and Leo is being seen and Venus in Leo is lovely things being seen.

Mars is trine Pluto, which is a strong will and intense determination to achieve. Use this power wisely to help you make changes for your betterment.

The Sun is opposite Saturn from 25th to 29th August. Tests and trials might make you frustrated OR determined to succeed. Hard work, patience and persistence can lead achievement , recognition and respect.

Mars will be moving from Virgo to Libra on 27th August. The collaboration, consensus and co-operation energy of libra likes social cohesion. Mars is not good at this, it needs a job to do, a problem to solve. Mars is in Venus’ domain (Venus rules Libra), Mars may feel a bit frustrated or lazy . A good solution would be to work with someone else at this time. Libra loves to work with others. Even if you usually work alone well, consider that it might help to reach out to others over the next couple of months.

Astro Weather Wed 16 Aug- Wed 23 Aug

Astro weather for wed 16th aug 2023

There was a New Moon in the sign of Leo today at 10.37am
This is the end of one cycle and the beginning of another new 28-day cycle.
The New Moon in Leo is excellent for making a fresh start, turning over a new leaf, or starting a new project. You can also question old habits, behaviors, and beliefs while searching for new and inventive ways to progress.

This new moon is squaring Uranus, this creates highly charged energy that can cause a build-up of tension. If not safely channeled into work and achievement, this tense energy can cause impulsive actions, erratic behavior, accidents and chaos. So patience is most important.

The moon then moves into Virgo all day Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning , so these days would be good for work, especially anything that requires attention to detail and incorporating some natural health routines into your schedule.

Saturday 1pm the moon moves into Libra for the rest of Saturday, all of Sunday and Monday.
And with the sun quincunx Neptune aspect their could indicate some sort of glamor or intrigue or a delicate balance between the two. You may be more sensitive to negative energy, so it is important to be around positive people. Otherwise, confusion, self-doubt, and low self-esteem are possible. Personal relationships, (including the one with yourself), may be subject to dishonesty and deception.

Sun quincunx Pluto from Sunday 20 to Wednesday 23rd may cause a buildup of pressure to such an intense level that it results in neurotic, obsessive, or destructive behavior. An event or person may trigger a tipping point by trying to take away your personal power. Compromise is needed if there are no yes or no answers, only gray areas.

Then the moon moves into Scorpio on Tuesday and Wednesday

Positive keywords for Moon in Scorpio:
• Devoted
• Focused
• Intuitive
• Sharp
• Unshakable
Negative keywords for Moon in Scorpio:
• Defensive
• Guarded
• Mistrustful
• Resentful
• Unforgiving

Mercury retrograde is happening next Wednesday 23 August just after the sun enters Virgo on the same day.

Mercury retrograde can slow and complicate your thinking, communications and travel. And this often happens in a more pronounced way at the start of the retrograde so remember to review any travel plans or documents that might need signing.

April 26th 2023 Some astrological pointers for week beginning April 26th

Between the Mercury retrograde in Taurus and the recent solar eclipse, it’s perfectly normal to feel exhausted. I definitely have been feeling more tired than usual! We are adjusting to the new energy, of Pluto in Aquarius and of Saturn in Pisces, and as we do so, we’re realising we need to purge the old energy, so try and get plenty of rest!

Eclipses come in pairs. We are between eclipses right now- it’s a time where we can burn through karma and welcome in some spiritual wisdom. It’s a great time to listen to your dreams for some insight. Some cultures faste at this time  and connect to their ancestors more consciously.  I run systemic constellation sessions which help with connection to our ancestors- maybe give one of my workshops a go!

So up until the next eclipse on May 5, there is something that you can let go of- something that is not helping you. If you have knowledge of your birth chart you can track where 14 degrees of Scorpio is in your birth chart. This is the area where you need to let something go.

Mercury retrograde is in Taurus -Taurus takes a long time to build and create the things we value.  If new things are suddenly appearing , take your time. Uranus is in the mix with this Mercury retrograde and it is linked to shocks and surprises, but because Mercury is retrograde until May 14th, make sure you are reviewing anything linked with purchases , especially if you are drawn to impulse buying.

Pluto is about to station retrograde in Aquarius on May 1st, this is linked to a very big transformation of your life, especially linked to the house where Pluto is transiting your chart..

When a planet stations, it slows to a standstill in the sky, granting it more power than usual.

Pluto energy is linked to major fears but

Pluto is about not buying into the fear especially when it’s stationing direct

It would be wise  to use this week to activate a transformation journey, to help counteract the fear.

Pluto is presenting you with an opportunity to push for a major transformation that you’ve been anticipating for months now.

……….

WE are still in Taurus season until May 21st. In Taurus season, we are reminded to step back from the constant hustle and prioritise our enjoyment of the present moment. To slow down, indulge our senses, and create a sense of wealth and abundance for ourselves rather than await it. You could do this by having pleasurable meals or  taking luxurious baths, or anything else that feels great for your body . Hope you have a lovely week

The creature comfort Cancer moon has been around for the past 2 days. The moon will be in Leo all day Thursday , Friday and Saturday. A good day for being around children, good day for creativity and using leadership skills in groups.

The moon moves into Virgo at 8pm UK time Saturday ,

So Sunday and Monday the moon will be in virgo, this is about accepting our imperfections and not worrying too much about the details of life, knowing that fulfilment can come from being of service to others , rather than achieving perfection.

Then the moon will move into Libra on Tuesday morning and will be there for the whole of Tuesday and Wednesday. This is about realising that life cannot always be continually harmonious , stress is part of life, but then beautiful art and music an be used to help with the stress, rather than completely ignore any stresses that arrive.

Astro Weather April 12th-April20th Solar Eclipse on it’s way!

Today , Wednesday 12th April, the moon is in the sign of Capricorn and the sun is still in Aries. They are forming a square , (a 90 degree aspect), ie: 3 signs away from each other. (This is a bit of a clash).

The moon in Capricorn is mature, disciplined, pragmatic and focused. The Sun in Aries is about fun, new beginnings and excitement. What we are focusing on emotionally will not be supported by the world today. BUT both Capricorn and Aries are both cardinal signs, so it could be a good day to get things up and running, (maybe something to do with work rather than emotional events).

Mercury has just entered its shadow period. It will be retrograde from April 21st until May 14th. This happens at least 3 times a year (sometimes 4) It is best to think of it as Mercury REVIEW. IE: a period of timeshare you can make something perfect, or at least a load better that was previously imperfect.

Mercury is in Taurus, conjunct Uranus , there might be sudden , (ie Uranian), communication that has been held back before. Watch out for shocking news either personally or in the wider news, especially linked to finances.

Yesterday was the start of the Jupiter Sun Kazimi in Aries… a kazimi is a very close conjunction; a ‘moves like Jagger” conjunction. Mick Jagger has a Jupiter sun conjunction in his birth chart.

The line “my ego is big, I don’t give a ……shit”

When the sun is conjunct to Jupiter good questions to ask are:

What’s non-negotiable about me, who am I?

What are my passions?

What’s the natural obvious next step?

Venus has just moved into Gemini .

Mars was in Gemini for 6 months, did we make war during the last 6 months regarding communications? Will this new transit help us make peace with our communications?

BACK TO THE MOON…

The moon moves from Capricorn to Aquarius on Thursday 13th around 10pm. This Aquarius moon is intellectual, stubborn, longs for community , yet keeps emotions private. We will be under the Aquarius moon on Friday and Saturday.

Around midnight Saturday night, Sunday morning the moon moves into Pisces until Tuesday at 2am in the morning.

Pisces moon is a shapeshifter moon, increasing the ability to merge the worlds of wakefulness and slumber, or even to shape shift into a mythological creature, an animal or an elemental force of nature.

We are in the waning cycle of the moon, time to tie up loose ends before we enter the solar eclipse in the early hours of Thursday 20th April. It is at the 29 degree of Aries, this is the last degree of Aries , it represents a super concentrated shot of that sign.

Eclipses predict periods of change over the next 6 months.

Good questions for this eclipse, especially linked to where you have 29 degrees of Aries in your chart are:

How does my self doubt take my power away?

How does my self doubt enable toxic relationships?

Can my insecurities be a source of strength?

The sun Jupiter conjunction will still be in play during the eclipse. Jupiter is a benefic, or lucky planet. Jupiter brings lots of opportunities, but you have to remember to take action to help this luck appear.

Astro Weather Wednesday: 15th – 22nd February 2023.

Transits of the Moon this week:

  • Wednesday 15th Moon in Sagittarius- howling wind of truth- emotional authenticity and truth.
  • Thursday 16th 5am Moon moves into Capricorn.
  • Saturday 18th 6am Moon into Aquarius.
  • Monday 20th 5am Moon moves into Pisces and it’s a new moon – good for focusing on new beginnings.
  • Wednesday 22nd 5am moon moves into Aries.

Big news for the week:

  • New moon in the sign of Pisces on Monday 20th at 5am (GMT).
  • New beginnings

Where does this fall in your chart?

Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac, so it’s like a spring clean, wrapping up the previous years cycle. What do we need to release and clear to bring in something new?

The Venus -Neptune conjunction (in Pisces) on Valentines day (ongoing until Friday), could have be romantic, but it also had the quality of being escapist, addictive, having rose coloured glasses, no boundaries, (which means Pisces is also linked with viruses). For me it was a mixture. I met up with a very Piscean relative who displays a lot of the negative Piscean traits- a known liar and prefers to live in the fantasy world of soap operas than any real life conflicts going on in his own life. Each to their own but I always feel as if I’ve been swept into a whirlwind of sugar coated fantasy and my own desire for truth and clear communication seems to get suffocated and then I end up feel sick and sad afterwards… Well I obviously still have work to do on my own (Piscean) boundaries to help me stay sane during these types of meetings! But this meeting also reminded me to connect with my mother and older sister, (Venus represents older sisters amongst other things), and not get stuck in the negative Pisces quagmire. I also had a more ‘higher octave’ Piscean phone call, on the same day, with a work colleague talking about embodied learning and being in the reality of things to heal rather than any spiritual bypass techniques. It is always good to apply the astrology to one’s own life to really learn how it really does work.

Wednesday 15th Feb:

Venus and Neptune still conjunct: “lets transcend and merge”– in the third Decan of Pisces – the Scorpio Decan- this really speaks to letting down our psychological guard down. Are we yearning some kind of union? This could be the highest octave of Pisces, merging into one being. Scorpio represents the underworld and inheritance and sex, amongst other unions. But with a Sagittarius moon today , this potential peace and love and “can’t we just all sing Kum ba yah and get along” will probably feel more like a “Just give me truth! – in a howling wind kind of way” Sagittarius is all about emotional authenticity and truth.

Mars (in Gemini) is in square to the Venus Neptune conjunction. Think John McEnroe energy (he has Mars conjunct moon in Gemini) with Meat Loaf (Venus conjunct Neptune in Libra).

John Mac screaming: “What’s going on?”… “You can’t be serious!”

Meat Loaf singing: “I would do everything else but that”…… (evasive lyrics not saying what he won’t do)…… “ I was ‘just about’ to say I love you”. But he didn’t!…. And (paradise by the dashboard song)- declaring his undying love- then wishing for the end of time by the end of the song!….. it’s like a communication between these two for the next few days- very jarring!

A Mars Neptune square is very demoralising if nothing happens when you pursue the truth.

Mars- screaming and shouting about state of world but no closure on anything, Neptune dreaming and singing in a world of their own which just frustrates Mars in Gemini even more!

The Mars Jupiter sextile is good for self improvement- if the world isn’t perfect and it feels like an enormous conspiracy against the living – what do we need to do to keep living our best life? Jupiter is in Aries= self directed. Mars in gemini works on two tracks- the corrupt world around and our own process.

We are in an Aquarian world- things happening in the world are personal but also Aquarian- which is about the collective.

It is advised to notice what comes into your life on Monday at the new moon. Saturn has been in Aquarius for 2 and a half years (Miley Cyrus and Michele Obama, Jonny Depp, Bra Pit have Sat in Aquarius). It will move into Pisces on March 7th. “Take spirituality seriously” is the message. Robert Downey Jr, Jesus! (on astrotheme Feb 28!), Keanu Reeves, Stalin, Russell Crowe, JK Rowling all have Saturn in Pisces.

Thursday 16th: Sun, Saturn conjunction – this energy demands judgement, demands limits, demands repercussions.

Saturn is about boundaries, structure, time and focus. Pisces is spiritual, mystical, creative. Maybe a coming together of our structured reality with the more creative, dreamy part of us? Even more need to stay in our truth!

A good day to get things down, use the Saturn energy and get stuff done instead of putting it off, (that’s why I’m typing this today!)

Celebrities with Sun Saturn conjunctins: Al Pacino in Taurus , Adam Ant in Scorpio , Tracy Ulman in Capricorn, Noel Coward in Sagittarius.

Mercury is a trickster -excellent in Aquarius (until March 3rd), John Mc Enroe had his Mercury in Aquarius he is an excellent commentator and we can all use humour which is very good for the chaos of the world .

Build yourself up this week so that you don’t deplete your energy at shaking your fist at the world like John McEnroe having a temper tantrum!

Monday 20th: Venus enters Aries Monday at 8am.

When it comes to spending time and money, Aries brings out a hasty, impulsive and even hyper-eroticized side of Venus. Venus represents your values with romantic love and also with your finances and material possessions “I want it and I want it now!” Veruca Salt from Charlie in Choc factory. Marilyn Monroe, George Clooney and Lady Gaga all have Venus in Aries- so that’s an idea about the kind of energy around today.

Monday 20th: Mercury at 13° Aquarius sextile Chiron at 13° Aries.

This transit could ease the Venus in Aries placement if we are open to talking about our past wounds and how to heal them.

Tuesday 21st: Mercury at 15° Aquarius square Uranus at 15° Taurus.

Jarring/ unexpected news? The prankster Mercury in Aquarius is great at sparky communication. The increased need for sudden excitement may mean you are more easily distracted today. Remember to look at all sides of a situation.

Wednesday 22nd: Mercury at 16° Aquarius trine Mars at 16° Gemini.

Networking is good with this energy Mercury still in Aquarius trine Mars in Gemini- talking to lots of different people, Mars in Gemini motivating us to be in immediate environment.

…………………………..

On the way soon:

Pluto has been in Capricorn since 2008, the year of a massive financial crash.

Pluto in Capricorn represents a transactional value to everything we did in the last 15 years. Pluto ingressing into Aquarius on March 23rd has the potential for relationships and romantic relationships to be more about allies rather than power struggles .

When we at last degrees of something it’s as if we’re never quite going to get there- when I ran my one and only marathon it was the last mile or two that felt endless… But of course we will get there in the end.

Hopefully when we get to Pluto in Aquarius it will help us look at the darkness in a way to help each other – a shared reality a shared perception. Aquarius is that freedom loving humanitarian sign, lets hope our individual boundaries will be strong enough to have great communities of healing for the next 20 years while Pluto is in Aquarius.

Astro Weather Wednesday: 8th – 15th February 2023.

8th February until Wednesday 15th February 2023.

The full moon last Sunday evening was a full moon in Leo, with the sun in Aquarius, square Uranus in Taurus- these are all fixed signs. Aquarius is fixed air, Leo is fixed fire, Taurus is fixed earth (fixed water is Scorpio).

I didn’t sleep well on the night of the full moon – which is a common phenomena at the full moon.

Uranus was shaking things up a bit- you may have felt a bit of a mix of weird energies at the weekend, some lovely Leo moon fun and childlike stuff with some curveballs and shocks? I felt grief from my dads death and I had some news about a close relative booked in for a major operation … but I also spent a wonderful day on Sunday playing bridge and preparing food with really good company, finishing off with an inspiring workshop with people listening respectfully to each others’ perspectives on a life of purpose, (the antidote to any addiction), while my son played with his friends outside in the sunshine – I felt very ‘Leo’ all day Sunday, comfortable, having fun, being with friends and playing.

Wednesday 8th February:

The moon is in Virgo today – going into Libra onThursday 9am.

My older brother has a moon in Virgo- the traits of this moon is to make well thought out decisions, acting with discernment , remembering that you don’t have to fit in. It’s a ‘Need to know’ moon energy – understanding and evaluating.

The Sun and Mars are in trine today- a good day for energy and mental stimulation.

Libra moon- Thursday 9am until Saturday at 6.30pm: libra loves beauty, hates conflict, can be stubborn, it’s a lawyer energy of wanting to know what’s right, this energy doesn’t like debating.

Good idea to enjoy aesthetics, beautiful art, food, music and keep out of heated debates.

Mercury, the planet of communication, is also conjunct Pluto for this week.

Mercury in Capricorn can bring a real serious tone to everyday interactions and peer relationships. It can bring out power dynamics in transactions and communication, especially with Pluto, the planet of the underworld and all things hidden, involved in the mix. (Mercury moves into Aquarius on Saturday around midday).

I know I have had a frustrating encounter with a friend- really feels as though there is a power battle between us. Pluto represents the subconscious so maybe there is something going on that we both don’t understand on the conscious level? I’m going to have to have my wits about me tomorrow, when I know I’ll be meeting with her again.

Venus, the planet of love and personal resources is trine Uranus- maybe the nudge we need to remind us to surrender to Venus in Pisces – reminding us that surrendering to the natural flow of the universe can generate rapid yet (hopefully) ultimately favourable change in a very practical way, i.e. with money or other core facets of our physical existence.

When Mercury enters Aquarius on Saturday it might take a little time to settle into the more free-ing energy. it will be a welcome change from the last 2 months of Mercury in Capricorn because it helps to free up the mind to access alternative possibilities to solve problems, rather than getting stuck in the same old patterns.

Aquarius, the fixed air sign, works well with Mercurial energy because it allows us to stay organised yet think outside the box. It also enhances our social skills, as we tend to be more open-minded about other people’s ideas and perspectives.

As Mercury transitions into this new sign, the lingering effect of Pluto is still weighing him down quite a bit. It may take a few extra days to a week to stop feeling like our thinking is confined by the fear of the worst possible outcome.

February 15th: Venus at 24° Pisces is conjunct with Neptune at 24° Pisces.

This will be felt from 14th until 16th.

This is a great time for artistic expression, such as music, painting, dance, anything that you feel very connected to. It is a highly romantic energy, as it invites us to feel and connect without limitations. While we do need to watch out for our feelings becoming out of touch with the reality, with any type of addictive or obsessive behaviour, overall, this is a beautiful climate for not only feeling connected to one another, but also feeling connected to a sense of fate or divinity. This is a good transit for cultivating intuitive and artistic abilities alike.

There is Scorpio moon on Saturday 11th at 5pm through until 1am Tuesday 14th- scorpio moons don’t like to forgive – it’s linked to the subconscious, the underworld, the hidden hand, dark depths of who we are, life, death, sex and joint finances and inheritances.

Keywords: Emotionally intense, passionate, instinctive, truth seeking, transformative.

Tuesday 14th: From 1am through until Thursday 16th (early morning) the moon is in Sagittarius. Freedom loving, fiery, loves travelling, belief systems, higher education, fun and socialising

Sagittarius is a fire sign, so this fiery lunar energy is creative, highly instinctive and quite bold. However, Sagittarius is also a mutable sign, so this lunar energy takes the surrounding circumstances and moulds itself to them, changing like quicksilver and adapting easily, come what may.

Born this day:

James Dean- the ‘anti-hero’ a rebel without a cause … he has Uranus on his ascendent- an archetype of a rebellious teenager.

Time and Tide wait for no man

12 September 2022

Time and Tide wait for no man

And te tide and te time þat tu iboren were, schal beon iblescet St Marter 1225

The time continues to tick on my life:

I have turned 50 recently, my father died just before this, I attended a funeral last month of a close friend in his 50s. With all of this I am feeling the effects of being on ‘the escalator of life’, (as one of my wonderful teachers Brendan O’Brien says).  I continue to reflect on my own outer and inner life and the life of all those I share my inner and outer world with.

I have found Astrology a very useful map for reflecting on my own personal circumstances, but I am increasingly using it to look at the wider events around me.

Astrological birth charts have a point called the ‘North Node’ and the ‘South Node’ .

“The Nodes have never failed to give me the information I need to correctly guide the individual in achieving success, self-confidence, and balance within the personality. “ Jan Spiller Astrology for the Soul

She goes on to say that the astrology chart shows our inner wiring. This is a phrase used by psychotherapists and by systemic constellators. The inner wiring of our neural networks is something that we are born with, but it can be rewired throughout our lifetime. New neural pathways can be laid done , making the earlier one’s redundant. So the idea is that any misfiring can be corrected once we are aware of our “glitches”. We can chose to correct behaviours that are not working for us. The result being a more smoothly operating life , (internally, and then externally.)

All the planets have a north and south node, but the nodes referred to in basic birth charts are the Nodes of the Moon. They are not planetary bodies , but points formed by the Moon’s orbit around the Earth intersecting with the Earth’s path around the Sun. The direction of the Nodes is counter-clockwise.

For each of us the North node is located in a sign and in a house. The sign position can be found from your year of birth.

The house position can be found from your time and place of birth. These are personal to you and you can use astro.com for free to draw up your own birth chart.

At this moment in time we are all experiencing a transiting north node in the sign of Taurus. This has been happening since Jan 2022 and will last until July 2023.

The attributes to develop during this transit , that we are all in the middle of, include Loyalty, Awareness of boundaries, Taking things one step at a time,  Sense of self-worth, Awareness of personal values, Patience, Honouring expressed needs of self and others, Enjoying the 5 physical senses, Gratitude,  Awareness of nurturing from Mother Earth, Forgiveness, Persistence.

So work in these areas can help uncover hidden gifts and talents.

So next time you feel that you are struggling this is a good go to list for the next year, a gratitude list would be a good idea as well as a walk in nature where you can appreciate the inputs to your senses from nature. The other task at the moment that I have noticed in my own life is that has been helpful is to write down the steps needed to achieve a goal, whether it feels small or big, breaking it down into steps is a good idea.

Tendencies to leave behind that will help make life easier and more enjoyable, over the next year especially, are:

Attraction to crisis situations, Over concern with other people’s business, Impatience, Inappropriate intensity, Judgmental tendencies, Preoccupation with the psychological motivations of others, Resistance to cooperating with what others want, Overreacting, Destroying something in order to eliminate one part , Obsessive-compulsive tendencies.

If you were born during the following times you always have a Taurus north node to deal with so the above themes will be even more pronounced for you:

Feb 20 1966- Aug 19 1967

Sept 12 1984- Apr 6 1986

And if you weren’t born during these times and think you constantly deal with these themes maybe your birth chart will reveal a North node in your 2nd house (which is ruled by Taurus).

The idea is that the south node is our comfort zone, but don’t serve us well to move forward in life. So if you find yourself a bit stuck look at the attributes to develop to help you move and flow with life again. For me my go to is the sea, this helps me connect to Mother Nature and I have been practising speaking out gratitude to the sea over the last few months as part of my gratitude list (when I remember to do this!). So thank you for reading this and for being you!

Have we Been in a Collective Womb like State since last March? April 2021

So it’s now 11 months since we were asked to stay at home for 2 weeks to flatten the curve of a graph that seems to be a distant memory.

March 2020 was the conception of this current lockdown. It is now January 2021 and I have noticed a changing mood in the air from how the world felt 10 months ago.

As a psychoanalytical psychotherapist I use my training and knowledge of the earliest interactions we all encounter to inform my observations of the human condition. This of course includes, (yet is sometimes overlooked), what happened to us in the womb. Then when we separate physically from our mothers at birth we are also influenced by other beings and situations, although we still remain very much psychically attached to our mothers. These early months of life after our birth are also vitally important in terms how we adapt to the world around us and whether we are primarily surrounded by love and thus develop a confidence in our innate self worth or whether we learn that fear drives those who are looking after us. John Bowlby saw fear being felt more strongly than love as one of the major factors in mental ill health as we get older.

The title psychoanalytic is awarded to those of us who have done an infant observation in our trainings. This is an observation of a child and the caregivers around the child from birth, (and preferable before, while baby is still in utero), for at least 18 months, and at least once a week. The reason for this is that eminent psychotherapists and psychoanalysts such as Sigmund Freud, Anna Freud, Melanie Klein, John Bowlby and Alice Miller and others all realised how the early years and months and days of our lives shape our somas and psyches, (our bodies and souls).

The observations are truly amazing, one learns to appreciate the rapid and magical way that a tiny baby transforms into a walking , talking little person. To witness, observe and viscerally feel the intense emotions that the baby encounters during the many hours of his or her day. I was always struck how the little baby that I observed could change from a blood curdling scream and crying as though they were on the verge of imminent catastrophe to laughing and gurgling as though they had just heard the funniest joke on the planet, then to sleep so soundly that they looked like an angel. This could be all in the space of a minute! I wish everyone had the opportunity to witness this stage of development so carefully and unobtrusively for the baby as it really brings to light how trying to suppress our emotions in our adult lives is such a strange activity that we have learnt from society pressures.

This poem by William Blake speaks to me of the wonderful world of emotions, that can be painful, but can lead to great ecstasy and when our emotions are accepted we feel safe.

“Man was made for joy and woe
Then when this we rightly know
Through the world we safely go.
Joy and woe are woven fine
A clothing for the soul to bind.”
― William Blake

The 9 months leading up to our births and the amazing visceral experience of meeting the world outside of the mothers body is, of course, preceded by the 9 months inside of the mother’s body.

I have been fortunate to have my own experience of pregnancy to my own child to shed some light on this stage of human development too. And my pregnancy came after I had completed my psychotherapy training, so I had extensive knowledge of John Bowlby’s understanding of Attachment, as well as the infant observations and ten years of clinical practice as well as my own personal therapy to help me understand my own early attachment bonds in the view to becoming an autonomous adult with healthy and secure adult attachment bonds and to then be a good enough mother.

So back to March 2020 and the idea that something was conceived in the world at this time and we have had the 9 months being told/advised what to do by powers that seem out of our control. A bit like a little being that is in their mothers body and has to go along with whatever the mother chooses to do. If the mother decides to drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes or partake in other drug habits, we know this has an effect on the baby. There is enough evidence of this that there isn’t really much to debate. Also if the mother takes prescription drugs there will be an impact, which was horrifically seen when many pregnant women were prescribed Thalidomide in the early 1960s resulting in many babies who lost their limbs. My older 2 siblings were born around this time and they are eternally grateful to my father, who was a GP for not prescribing this untested drug to his patient, and to my mother for not taking it for her morning sickness.

And there is also evidence (Why Love Matters by Sue Gerhardt), that the stress levels of the pregnant woman affect the baby living inside. So it would be wise of us to hope that the powers that be, the powers that have been deciding to keep the world in an almost womb like state for the last 9 months would be healthy in body and soul themselves, with no excess stress or drug taking.

It is now 10 months since March 2020, and if I continue with this analogy, then the world is being born, being set free of our ‘caregivers’, some of us have been happy in lockdown, some have been very unhappy, just like some babies are surely happy in their mothers bodies and some less so. The world seems rather agitated right now and there are certainly more people out and about than last April. I know, as my dad very sadly died in April 2020 because he was unable to attend the local hospital due to them saving spaces for Covid patients. My father was a man of 91 who had served the NHS for over 40 years of his life, and was not allowed to go to hospital when he was ill, even though he was very happy to risk getting Covid and be admitted. He wasn’t afforded that choice. So I was travelling around a little during April and May 2020 due to seeing him for the last time and attending his funeral, and the country felt like it was all asleep, or in utero. Not like now where there is a definite bustling energy and the feeling that people are wanting to get on and make their own informed choices for their lives and health

So what happens to us when we experience a terrible mother, (see Dragon Mother by Michael Tsarion) or by Toxic Parents, (see book of this name by Dr Susan Forward) or are not witnessed by an enlightened witness (see The Drama of the Gifted Child by Alice Miller).

Well we know we can’t physically reverse the time and go back to babyhood and choose different parents or educate our parents, but we can remember that we are adults and educate ourselves to help that part of us that feels like a baby or young child to feel safe and secure. We can learn to parent ourselves to some extent and to reach out for support to help us be the best parent to ourselves. Support from professionals or from trusted friends and colleagues. Humans need interactions and these last months have been tough for many who have felt isolated.

I would be interested if when reflecting on the last 11 months anyone feels a connection to when they were in their mother’s womb. For me it has been a mixture of feelings, and despite frustration at a lack of freedom to travel and anger and worry that my son will miss important social interactions I have loved being in my own home and the private, quiet time that has been precious for me and also the joy of connecting with people on a one to one basis where I feel true intimacy stems from.

When I was born my home already had 2 parents and my 3 older siblings interacting with each other, so I can see that the quiet time I had in the womb, being constantly close to my mother, felt rather precious and peaceful compared to the noisy house I entered where I had competition for my mothers and fathers attention. Although a busy house also meant that I had lots of distractions and others to play with and learn about myself. As Winnicott famously said “there is no such thing as a baby, only a baby- parent bond”, ie we learn to be ourselves through the interactions we have with others. So I had lots of interactions to help learn about myself, for which I am very grateful. The many more interactions that we will all hopefully have in 2021, as compared to 2020 will help us learn about ourselves. What will you learn?

I have been studying Law of Attraction this year and I find it a great link betweeen the Laws of Physics and the theory of psychotherapy. It is a simple law that has amazing implications when used clearly and with skill and practice.
